Do you wanna be a beta tester for WinFE?
Just before the latest WinBuilder WinFE gets released, would you like to take it on a test run first before the rest of the world gets it? There are some neat features (Bitlocker support, DiskPart batch file, plus others), but the main concern is testing to see if anything needs to be fixed, corrected, added, or taken away from the build.
If you have the time to make a build or two and run it against your computer, send me an email and I’ll send you the build (not the ISO, you have to build that, but you get the Winbuilder app to build it). I’d appreciate any comments, good-bad-or indifferent. I’ll cut off the number of beta testers as soon as a decent number can reply to this request by email to; bshavers@gmail.com. So give me your email to get your beta!

So once perfected you will either sell it or keep it more or less private.
If there is no ISO image then it must be made, I guess that you provide good enough instructions on how to make the image or Does one need to be a programmer or know a lot about computers to make the ISO image?
Are the “Forensic” programs “Already There” or Do they need to be added and you give instructions as to how to do it?
If there is audio and video can adobe flash be added?
It is not as if I am looking for an operating system, I already have Win98SE, Win2000, WinXP and Linux.
Yes, I would like to try it if I can build the ISO.

It can support video and audio, although the intended purpose is for forensic acquisition/analysis. Due to the Microsoft EULA, distributing the ISO is not allowed, as you must create the ISO yourself (otherwise, it’d be akin to pirating, which this is not since you need to have your own licensed copy of Windows).
You don’t need to be a programmer to use WinBuilder, and actually, the point of the beta testing is to make sure anyone can create their own ISO using their own Windows install disc.
The forensic programs have to added to the ISO as I can’t distribute software, but it is detailed in the build to add at least one forensic (FTK Imager) application. Others can be added just as easily, but you need the software (licensed or freeware) to add it.

With this winbuilder Winfe, and the command dpart.cmd on its desktop , I was finally able to mount an external usb stick fairly constantly, whereas before, with a normal
winfe build, it happened only rarely.
Only usb disks could be mounted.
I did however have a little problem with a normal windows 7 home premium dvd.
It worked with the microsoft technet trial download of the windows 7 enterprise dvd.
Correction : after trying a few more times, usb stick mounting is still erratical.
It seems that Colin Ramsden is busy creating a mounting tool.
Details about the problem I had with the home premium version :
my operating system is Windows 7 home premium english, with localized Belgian
keyboard layout. The source dvd was a dutch windows 7 home premium
And winbuilder stopped in the middle.
When using a source dvd home premium English, I had no problems.
Re mounting USB sticks, I’ve had some success mounting USB sticks when booting from WinFE CD, but none at all when booting from WinFE USB (from same build as CD).
In DPart I can select the disk and change read attributes. But option “c” (Put disk online) results in:
Virtual Disk Service error
The object is not found
Any ideas?
